Few events in Colorado combine as many elements as this years Colorado Aloha Festival.
2010 marks the first year the University of Hawaii Warriors will play against CU Buffs in Boulder, and is definitely a big highlight for our event. Our festival is an ethnic celebration of Colorados rich Polynesian American heritage. It is a cultural showcase of diverse Hawaiian/Pacific Rim cuisine and performing artists. It is a marketplace of unique and hard-to-find Hawaiian/Polynesian themed arts, crafts and vendors from both Hawaii and the mainland. It offers the community cultural workshops, to promote awareness of Hawaii and Polynesian history, through, dance, arts and crafts. It is the only mainland festival to receive recognition and support* from the following Hawaii based organizations: Hawaii Tourism Authority, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Na Koa. *including non-monetary participation.
Get the attention you deserve...Our festival provides you the best exposure for your $$.
~ Aloha and hope to see you at the festival.

September 17-19, 2010, Boulder
Boulder is going Hawaiian for a weekend of dance, music, talk story, crafts and food during the Colorado Aloha Festival (coloradoalohafest.com).
The fun begins on Friday, Sept. 17, when local hula school Mauna Pohaku presents a concert at CUs Macky Auditorium. In addition to more than 40 adult and keiki (children) dancers, the concert will feature 5-time Grammy Award winner Daniel Ho and composer, author, and kumu hula (hula master) Loea Hewett. Loea will emcee, providing background about the dances and chants both ancient and modern as well as delight the audience with ukulele (Ho) and song (Hewett). The concert starts at 7pm, and tickets are available for purchase in advance on the website.
On Saturday, September 18, the CU Buffaloes football team will play the University of Hawaii (UH) Warriors at Folsom Field. Mauna Pohaku dancers will be joined by dancers from Kahalui, Maui, and local hula schools at the halftime performance during the game, which is tentatively scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN (check local listings for time).
Expect lots of UH fans in town at the game and at the Twenty Ninth Street Mall, where the festival will have free cultural workshops, music, and Pacific Islander performances all day and continuing on Sunday. Vendors, many coming from Hawaii, will be selling everything you need to keep you in the aloha spirit year-round, including fine art, jewelry, leis, clothing, and music. In addition, ono (delicious) island food will be available for purchase. If youve never sampled Spam sushi a Hawaiian favorite this will be your opportunity. Wash it down with a tropical smoothie from Maui Wowie and you're good to go.
So what if you can't surf in Colorado?
